Just for the record...
I track CURRENT (11) on my development box. I built my kernel
with sc(4) (SYSCONS)

# atkbdc0 controls both the keyboard and the PS/2 mouse
device atkbdc # AT keyboard controller
device atkbd # AT keyboard
device psm # PS/2 mouse

device kbdmux # keyboard multiplexer

# syscons is the default console driver, resembling an SCO console
device sc
options SC_PIXEL_MODE # add support for the raster text mode

As well as vt ( VIRTUAL TERMINALS(4) )

# vt is the new video console driver
device vt
device vt_vga
device vt_efifb

I have no trouble(s) running X on this box (I'm writing this from
within my web browser, on an X11 desktop)

The only provision I had to make, was in loader.conf(5) :

kern.vty=sc

and life is good! :)

In all fairness; I use a US keyboard, *but* using SYSCONS *doesn't*
prevent my being able to run X11. :)

Hope this helps!
