Have you got "X11Forwarding yes"

in the /etc/sshd_config?

I had it set in my ~/.ssh/config file, but that made no
difference when the server was denying the requests.  Thanks to
this conversation and man sshd, I've fixed the problem I was
having.  Thanks.
