I think it was 8.2 and "X.org -configure" didn't give me a working screen, and then I discovered I had to be using hald, it was painful and I starting keeping a copy of my working configuration in a USB mem. TBH the -x11 guys were really doing their own homework keeping up with linux and I was able to find out the information on the net. I hope I don't have to start downloading manually all the prepackaged dependencies (I still do that with Java and it's not nice).
