Seems to me the min(4KB,stripesize) would be a safe bet.
we (fusion-IO) certainly export our native blocksize..
whether it's 512 or 520 or 4000 or 4096..
you feed it in as a format parameter and we'll actually do what you
ask for.
(512 and 4096 are the most used values of course)
