Hi, I have a similar problem with my areca-controller. (http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-current/2011-August/026867.html) Maybe the problem is related?
I wrote some mails do Areca-support to find the problem. They send me a beta-firmware and driver but it doesn't solve the problem.
