I cannot reproduce this on a system compiled entirely with clang: $ mktemp foo.XXXXXX foo.MyUM5k $ mktemp foo.XXXXXX foo.YidMeT $ mktemp foo.XXXXXX foo.L27Cfz $ mktemp foo.XXXXXX foo.k3haLx ... and so on.
