Some tulip boards in alpha systems don't autonegociate properly so the SRM has a way of forcing them to a particular mode. A change was made recently to respect the SRM setting instead of using autoneg. The variable is typically called ewa0_mode. To find the right setting, type >>>set ewa0_mode from the SRM prompt and it will give you a list of settings.
