I've been using the latest binutils from cygnus for the last month without
any ill effects on my systems stability. It took some messing around to make
it fit into the world source tree but it was nothing serious.
See pr i386/15841 for an example.

But as I take it (only my 0.02$) it won't happen until they release an
official
version and it doesn't seems to be anywhere soon.
