I did not send the log messages because they don't help. I only
found these in /var/log/messages:
Feb 11 00:16:24 defiant ftpd[880]: FTP LOGIN FAILED FROM lxpxeg.lx.ehu.es, jose
Feb 11 00:17:49 defiant ftpd[888]: FTP LOGIN FAILED FROM defiant.we.lc.ehu.es, jose
... and so on.
I log auth.info messages in /var/log/authlog, but there aren't any ftpd or
PAM messages in that file.
I also upgraded /etc/pam.conf to version 1.5.
