            Bug ID: 298329
           Summary: sh(1) description of case is not up-to-date
           Product: Base System
           Version: CURRENT
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Many People
          Priority: ---
         Component: bin
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

The SUS allows an optional opening bracket in case statements, such as:
    case t in
    (t) echo y ;;
    (*) echo n ;;
    esac

sh itself has supported this for years.
But the sh(1) manual has not caught up.
It gives the syntax for case as:
    case word in
    pattern) list ;;
    ...
    esac

NetBSD's sh(1) manual page is up-to-date with respect to the leading opening
bracket as well as ;& :
    case word in
       [(] pattern) [list] ;&
       [(] pattern) [list] ;;
       ...
    esac

NetBSD's change was
https://cvsweb.netbsd.org/bsdweb.cgi/src/bin/sh/sh.1#rev1.135 , for reference.
