--- Comment #10 from sp...@itl.ua --- (In reply to Christos Margiolis from comment #9) I tested on 13.2, not on CURRENT and 14.2. Maybe something has changed, I have no these versions installed. Also, I adjusted volume level by mixer so that I got equal volume levels in both cases, in order to exclude "sound too loud and thus is clipping" case. Case 1: sysctl hw.snd.vpc_0db=45; mixer vol = 100 #clean sound Case 2: sysctl hw.snd.vpc_0db=4; mixer vol = 70 #distorted sound In both cases the sound is approx equal loud, but the distortion in the second case is obvious. Well, extra loudness seems to be the cause, but not on the end of the chain (i.e. this is not speakers overloading nor clipping of summary signal). I suppose incorrect recalculation of sound flow (its louder sections) while hw.snd.vpc_0db is not default, so that even after we low down volume level by mixer, the sound is already corrupted, and the distortion is heard even on lower volume levels. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
