It looks like a number of race conditions in the NFS4 and packet processing layers were caught by syzkaller runs and fixed in the last few 5.4 LTS updates. My scenario, running 5.4.179, the oopses I mentioned have seemingly left as mysteriously as they arrived, so my thinking is the flaw was on the Linux-side and not on the FreeBSD-side.
