Bug ID: 250755 Summary: 12.2-RELEASE i386 GENERIC kernel fails to load Product: Base System Version: 12.2-RELEASE Hardware: i386 OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: kern Assignee: b...@freebsd.org Reporter: p5b2e9...@t-online.de After trying to upgrade an 586 CPU system from 12.1-RELEASE to 12.2-RELEASE the deployment via installkernel and installworld failed. Having read https://www.freebsd.org/releases/12.2R/relnotes.html I understood that before FreeBSD-13.0 this system would not be affected and it is still the same like in https://www.freebsd.org/releases/12.1R/relnotes.html While other i366 systems could be upgraded without any problems from the same buildworld/buildkernel run I got stuck on finding any changes/errors on the build/deploy procedure here. Finally I extracted the RELEASE-12.2 GENERIC kernel kernel.txz d578b60e98b62f3f412068655f365a816e4c8fe9733ea45a9c6d14cb42ff64d4 899 kernel "Kernel (MANDATORY)" on on the system to exclude any potential local errors here. Rebooting the 586 system resulted in a BTX halted.
