Bug ID: 244644 Summary: Legacy timezones for Ukraine are in the main category, name for only current timezone is confusing Product: Base System Version: 12.1-RELEASE Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Many People Priority: --- Component: conf Assignee: b...@freebsd.org Reporter: be...@protonmail.com Created attachment 212206 --> https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=212206&action=edit FreeBSD Installation unappropriate Ukraine timezones The timezones for Ukraine offered by FreeBSD installation are really confusing. First of all, even if we agree with such explanation bug #19822, comment #2, the name of the current only timezone for Ukraine is confusing. It should be definitely NOT "Ukraine (most areas)", because it's for all areas in Ukraine. It should be just "Ukraine". Second, Legacy timezones should be moved to other place. I offer to create a category "Legacy" inside Ukraine and remove all that don't deal with modern Ukraine to that category (/folder). Also, they should be renamed for better understanding - I think it would be enough to add the years of operation. I reviewed previous bug reports on this matter accurately (bug #198822 & bug #47468) and I think my solution may be the compromise if you would like to preserve old timezones and avoid spoiling FreeBSD's reputation in Ukraine. Please pay attention that Ukrainian Wikipedia article has a description of this controversy regarding Ukraine timezones during installation of FreeBSD and this definitely doesn't improve attraction for FreeBSD in Ukraine. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ freebsd-bugs@freebsd.org mailing list https://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-bugs To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-bugs-unsubscr...@freebsd.org"
