I've been doing a little more debugging, per
https://docs.freebsd.org/doc/5.5-RELEASE/usr/share/doc/handbook/acpi-debug.html

As i can still booting from the 11.2 kernel i was previously running, i've
collected ASL with "acpidump -t -d" . I get this in stderr  when running it:
acpidump: RSDT entry 3 (sig OEMB) is corrupt

I will attached the acpidump output in case it's useful; there are two errors
in it:

acpi-dump-kern11.2_userland12.0-prodhoun-20190119.asl   5307:                  
          PLD_Revision           = 0x1,
Error    6105 -                                               Invalid object
type for reserved name ^  (_PLD: found Buffer, Package required)
