I'll wait for 10.4, then, before being able to take backups again, unfortunately the release plan says announcement is due 3:d of October... Strangely enough I have a different server, also with 10.3 on which this has never happened. They are very alike, especially the way both send zfs recursive zroot mirror with snapshots.
