It would be great if an upgrade of the EM Intel driver was done for FreeBSD 7.x. Currently FreeBSD 7.x uses version 6.9.6 of the Intel driver, dated May 30, 2007. Version 6.9.21 is available from the intel site and is dated Oct 21,2009. This new version supports a lot of new chipset like the Intel 82578DC. It would be a great improvement.
