Yes, but that won't win us any new users.

Imagine someone wants to start writing software.
What can you do with a bare-bones FreePascal installation???

If I hadn't already had a project in Turbo Pascal that I wanted to continue, I 
would never have switched to Free Pascal.

And many - if not all - of us here are among those people. We had a project in 
Turbo Pascal or Delphi and wanted to continue with it, or were looking for a 
free solution.

The pressure to carry on was therefore immense, and we were willing to 
overcome even the most formidable obstacles.

As a reminder: there is also competition out there.

With a philosophy like that, we will not gain a significant number of new 
users.
