No, I meant that there were different implementations of ld which are almost but not quite entirely unlike tea.

Apart from oddities like Solaris ld there's GNU ld which for a long time has been the default in Linux, and there's "Gold" which might or might not replace it in some distreaux. The behaviour of non-basic options such as --verbose might vary.
