I don't know anything really about LLVM, but did read recently the comparison betweer GCC and LLVM under the latest FreeBSD. 20-30% faster compiles, much less memory usage etc. But then FreeBSD really had no choice, because GCC & GDB moved to GPLv3, which FreeBSD can't support. Hence the default GDB is v6.x (luckily the ports collection has v7.x). Whether it's related or not, FreeBSD seems to have > back-burnered everything that's not Intel... Um strange. FreeBSD recently announce they have added support for the Raspberry Pi. That's not Intel.
