Thinking about it, there is a 100% Pascal implementation of Xft. I read about it in the Lazarus Forums, and I think it is used in LCL-CustomDrawn widgetset. I don't know how complete that implementation is compared to the Xft library though. So if you really wanted to, you could use that instead of linking to the Xft library.
