It is, but as far as I understand, you can not have a password without a
user according to RFC3986 <http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc3986#section-3.2>

So, how to distinguish between the two ?

sip:[email protected]

Is "sip" the protocol or the user name for a HTTP address ?
