Luckily we have pretty good control over our deployment environment and recommend Ubuntu to all our franchisees. As far as I know, xdg-utils come standard with Ubuntu. But for safety sake, we will definitely deploy the xdg-utils as well. Anything to help promote the idea for better desktop applications on Linux.
