Ok, I found out, at least on my Mac.
Mac programs have a different menu structure. So, when Qt sees a menu
with the caption 'Close' it moves it to another position. The same
with 'About', and then it refuses to show the part menu because it is
empty.
If you add more items to the menus, they are shown correctly.
But since you are using Linux, I don't really know what is happening
=) (a screenshot would be nice)
I haven't noted problems with the menus, except for this "Qt feature"
