[fpc-pascal]Question about fp

I don't know is this is the correct place to ask, if not please direct me to the right place.   I am running the fp editor on mandrake 9.0. All my borders are not the normal lines but are the extended charactes I.E the a with a dash above and the like. It does not reconize keys F1 threw F4, yet the other F keys work???   Any ideas.   Brent
