It's just a real-world manifestation of the spirit that is our community. This manifestation is necessary, cause the community as a diffuse object cannot do things like buying servers, signing treaties etc. The foundation is an avatar. This is the sole reason why a foundation exists. To enable the community to act outside cyperspace. Therefore ideally there should be no decision without knowledge and acceptance of the community.
