A small notice. I think what Carlos means when he mentions GitHub is 
not the version system (git) but actually moving the project from apache 
to github. Carlos correct me if I misunderstood.

Other than that I think more conversations like these are vital. They 
provide more clarity and show that there are people that care for the 
project.
