This is not strictly true. The CMS will perform conversions from mdtext to html
(and others) according to the path matching rules in lib/path.pm
So, if *.cgi, *.png, or whatever files are in place they will be copied asis.
cgi scripts are usually found in a cgi-bin directory.
I'll finish reading this thread as I saw Carol get a preferred answer from
