David's language is harsh, perhaps not well suited for email discussions (or any discussion for that matter) and not productive in building community. But his point is well taken. Hinting at solutions to problems, but not actually revealing them to the group, feels like delaying progress, feels like "proprietary" vs "open source." And I think it's worth pointing out, that while for some this is just fun, for others livelihoods and past investments depend on the future of Apache Flex and time is ticking. David's frustration with Alex can be understood if he falls in this camp, which I do fall into. It's ridiculous enough that Adobe are pissing us about with the ridiculously long time they are taking over releasing stuff to Apache, without then starting stupid "well we are working on solutions to that, but you'll have to wait to find out what, so there" nonsense. If Alex has stuff to contribute, then he should contribute it now, involving the rest of the group as he does so. Otherwise he can go boil his head for all I care. I have no time for Adobe's screwed up "we'll open source it when we have finished it" attitude to be frank with you. Further I think anyone who puts up with such crap from Adobe employees does neither themselves, nor this project, any favours at all. Basically if the emperor isn't wearing any clothes, tell him his arse is flabby and move on. Licking it won't get you anywhere. David.
