As a developer I always tend to start with some code, so I think the same
happened this time in my design part of the brain.

The boomerangs, dots and symbols stand for the "< : / >" chars we commonly
use in flex tags. It is kind of a graphic tag.

The core symbol is actually and X  taken from the name Flex and
representing the cross-platform ability.

The feather as you said is for Apache, but also for me it represents the
community.

I had a lot of fun drawing my thoughts.
