Yes, multi-threading would kill many apps.  Lots of folks would try to use
it and spend lots of time trying to debug it.  The number of hard to
reproduce crashes would go up and perception of stability of Flex apps would
go down.

Seriously though, some sort of concurrency model is on the drawing board.
Will the Apache Flex project be able to leverage it?  Unknown at this point.
But this is an advanced capability that most folks don't need so I wouldn't
spend too much time worrying about it until we see it show up in a version
of the player.
