You are mistaken. I've communicated with the head of service for Schneider Optics and Windex diluted 50:50 with water is the #1 thing he recommends for cleaning lenses.
Most lens cleaners are water bases, not alcohol based. Mr. Bill lists wrote: > Windex contains amonia which can etch coatings.
