I just stepped up from PS-Elements2 to PS-CS (version 8) .. at USD 299 for the upgrade .. thanks for the heads-up in this forum.
So far it looks familiar except for the new features compared to Elements. I like the 16bit per channel -- it was in fact what cinched my decision for PS-CS vis-a-vis Picture Window PRO-3.5, a less costly 16bit image editor, with a steeper learning curve for me. After following the discussion of the merits of 8 vs 16 bit -- my digicam's A/D converter is 14 bits, I scan my film and pics at 16 bit -- the argument comes down to 16bit image editing and then saving the end product in 8bit with the expectation of a better end-result. Thus the new PS-CS promises to be a great tool for a quasi-amateur like me. Thus I would be most interested in what is the assessment of PS-CS in the 'filmscanners' community?
