This is a great time saver for batch scanning.  But Vuescan newbies should
note that this option is often coupled with the "advanced workflow", where
the scanner exposure is locked (constant) for all images.  If you are not
using advanced workflow, there is an advantage to doing a preview scan
before the final scan: Vuescan uses the preview image to compute an optimum
exposure for the final scan.  At least, that's the way it works on the
scanners I have tried.
