I tried 2 Minolta Elite IIs and both had red channel banding and some "lazy" pixels in the deep shadows . Potentially it is an excellent scanner (which is why I gave it a second chance) but its dynamic range is effectively limited by these CCD issues. This was several months ago. It is possible that the situation has changed now but, considering that the original Elite and Scan Dual II both has similar problems, I wouldn't bank on it. The issues really only become apparent on very dense slides. I'm sure there are many satisfied owners - if they are only scanning negatives, chances are they would never see much of a problem.
