Windows XP does indeed include system-level color-management capability, although it isn't very elaborate. It is apparently not automatic; applications must explicitly choose to avail themselves of it. In turning it on and off, I didn't see any obvious difference in color, so there must not be too many programs that reference it. I haven't been able to find any details on exactly what this new feature does in XP.
