I have a lot of 6x6 and bigger negatives/dias, and do all my scanning on my Epson perfection 1240 photo(with transparency adapter).
My scans also get an mangenta cast(in the beginning), and every test of these Epson flatbed scanners confirm this problem. Now i use Vuescan scanner software because of very good color reproduction and it is very easy in this software, to control and fix the mangenta cast.(and a lot of other tings) Every scan i do, is with a constant minus in the reds and pluss in the greens.(Its what we do in the "analog" darkroom). The result of this constant factor in reds/green, together with VueScan in "White balance" mode is very god color reproduction without any mangenta cast. I have also tried an Kodak IT8 software to calibrate scanners, you kan download it from http://www.aim-dtp.net/aim/calibration/index.htm. This software produce an ICC profile wich also fix the mangenta cast. Per Stavnesli -----Opprinnelig melding----- Fra: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]P vegne av Ernest B. The results have been less than spectacular. The transparencies appear to be well exposed without abnormal color shifts. However, the scanned transparencies have a definite magenta cast and what appears to be magenta grain particles in the lighter colored areas. In addition, they are not sharp, at all. I've pretty much given up on the Epson since I can get beautiful scans with similiar 35mm transparencies on my LS-2000. I'm looking for a scanner that will do 6 x 6 transparencies and hopefully provide results similiar to the LS-2000. I see that Epson now has a 1680 with a transparency adapter. Does anyone know if this scanner is any good? Also, I know that both Polaroid and Nikon have some high end scanners that will do the larger transparencies. Anyone have any experience with these with the Nikon 8000ED? Is it sharp and free of color casts? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.
