This is something I've only noticed recently- I scanned some very contrasty 
(excessively) XP2 negatives and in the scan I could see brownish areas like a halo 
around the black of the subject's hair. Once I worked out that these were the lightest 
areas of the negative I realised this is probably flare- I'm just not used to seeing 
it in reverse.
