Production of the SS4000 has ceased and is being replaced by the SS4000 Plus which is currently in production. Whatever is in dealer inventory is all that is remaining. B&H and Ecost got the last slug a week or so ago. David

Spec's have been set for many months, unit is in production, firewire will be as fast as SCSI, USB slower. I expect we will have no 35mm film scanners to sell for 2 - 4 weeks as the 4000's have all left Polaroid. Will it replace the current 4000? I am also trying to buy a Sprintscan 4000 here in the UK. The Polaroid rep here said the Plus had not yet been released "officially" and whether it would be was still under discussion as the "market was so competitive". He implied that the final product, if there was going to be one, didn't have the final specifications set yet. This may just be comments for the UK, but if it is more general the SS4000 could be sold out before a final decision is made what will happen with the Plus. Maybe David Hemingway could offer more information. Personally I am more interested in a SCSI than a USB connection as it sounds like it could be quicker but what do others find in this regard?
