To everyone..Thank you! Downloading the Spectrocam program update 1.6.2 and trashing Adobe Gamma as well as all the spectrocam, & colorsync preferences did the trick.
I now have a calibrated monitor for the first time. A scary thought. Color me happy. Happy holidays to all.
