I've been around for a similar amount of time, looking back. The worst
of it indeed poorly reflects on the list at large. It's a shame, as
there are useful, interesting discussions - even today! [1]

For a while, there seemed to be some improvement on the vitriol front
back when there was discussion and a reminder of CoC [2]. Perhaps it
is worth a revisit?
