my insights are common sense
a bad packet which reachs your application can trigger a error in your
application
a packet thrown away by the firewall in front can't
case closed
Depends on how the app is built. If coded to reject all default, a bad packet
which reaches your app just gets ignored.
stop it - the defintion of a bug is that code don't work the way you
thought and you can nothing do against it before it's too late
the code which makes the decision if a packet is bad could be vulnerable
itself and there is no point to discuss when somebody have no clue about
layered security
whatever don't reach your application can't trigger a bug in your
application - it's that easy
