The main profile does not support 4:2:2 pixel formats, see the table at the end of this section: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264/MPEG-4_AVC#Profiles Your mjpeg input delivers yuvj422p, and ffmpeg doesn't automatically convert.
