Approved on my side, given that Carl already tried to get refund several times and at the time there were no travel restrictions to Germany, so there might be no legal way to get a travel refund from the airline company since the event was cancelled. @Carl in case you manage to get travel refund from the airline company keep me updated, but I feel like you should not jump through the hoops to get it. Attending events should be considered a service for the project, and thus we should cover expenses in cases as this one, to ease and foster participation rather than discouraging developers to attend (which would happen in case they have to spend money which cannot be refunded).
