This patchset supersedes my earlier patches [1], [2], [3]. The main difference between the earlier version is that I have avoided the repetition in [2] by factoring out the common parts of writing units into a single function in cbs.c. This does not hinder the efforts of reducing memcpy in any way: Then as now one can easily signal via the return value whether a unit is already finished or whether it is only within the write buffer.
