Just a thought, if you model your transformation matrix as M = RH, where H is the horizontal flip and R is the rotation, is it possible to simplify the logic here to: //your H transformation if (hflip) ret = insert_filter(&last_filter, &pad_idx, "hflip", NULL); //the R transformation same code as before..
