Well, I wouldn't take it so seriously.
At least the things I've reviewed it doesn't really matter much.
Also I've seen students about as much sit and design, discuss, etc when they 
should be coding, because they lacked the experience and understanding of the 
problem for all their discussion and  designing to really give useful results.
Maybe you know different students or you just don't see that side. But either 
way, students are studying for a reason (hopefully) ;-).
