If you are interested in working on detelecine, please look at ticket #5662: It is currently not possible to choose (with an option) which of two subsequent duplicated frames are dropped / for the sample there, the progressive (complete) frame is dropped, instead a composed frame is dropped: They should be identical, but because of reencoding the composed frame looks bad, I believe we cannot rule out that this can also happen for distributed material.
