I am rather surprised by your troubles with gmail. You are definitely not the only person using it, but you are the only one I heard have trouble at this kind of level. And this is not the only issue. A decent MUA should not mangle patches, even copy-pasted ones. We can not urge random contributors to completely change their habits, but since you are obviously here to stay, you should certainly make sure you use good tools as soon as possible. Anyway, this was just advice, but I stick to it: you can probably get things working by yourself (possibly with help, but without requiring intervention from administrators), and I believe you would gain time overall by addressing it as soon as possible.
