Yes, remote participation is absolutely possible for both speakers and mentors. FOSS Hack 2026 will be predominantly online, with an offline orientation and a final hacking session on 28th–29th March at our campus. Throughout the month-long hackathon, the event will continue in online mode, during which we can host speaker sessions and interactive discussions to better guide participants. You are very welcome to participate remotely. Regarding mentorship, we are looking for FFmpeg developers who could support participants when they face technical challenges or roadblocks. Every good project reaches a point where progress feels stuck - whether due to a wrong approach, a difficult bug, or a complete blocker. For FOSS Hack 2026, mentors play a crucial role in helping participants move past these moments and successfully ship meaningful contributions. We also strongly agree that FOSS Hack 2026 presents a valuable opportunity to attract new talent, as many participants are motivated students eager to contribute to impactful open-source projects. As a small, student-led college club organizing this hackathon, we are working with limited resources.
